Ana has been involved in photography for
over 25 years. Mainly self-taught, she uses the camera as a tool to
portray the world as it can still be found in some corners of the planet.
A love for the natural world, its wild
creatures and spaces, has taken Ana to Africa on four separate occasions.
There, she captured on film the day-to-day activities of numerous species of
animals living free and unrestrained. Closer to home, she finds
spectacular images in her travels throughout the United
States and Canada.
Ana is a Polaroid/Daylab
Creative Use
Consultant and conducts workshops on the Polaroid Emulsion and Image Transfer,
both for children and for adults.
In early 2002, Ana was awarded a
Special Opportunity Stipend grant by the New York Foundation for the Arts and
the New York State Council for the Arts, administered in the Mid-Hudson region
by the Garrison Arts Center, in support for her solo exhibition of Polaroid
Emulsion Transfers at the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts. She won
the Phillip Isenberg Memorial Award, 1st prize in photography, at the
Fall 2000 Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit and 2nd prize in
photography at the Summer 2002 Housatonic Art League Art Show.
One of the premier stock agencies for
nature photographers, Animals Animals/Earth Scenes, has represented her work
since 1989, Photri Inc. since 1982. Her images have been used in the
Velvet Claw Portfolio of BBC Wildlife Magazine, by Hallmark Cards on the cover
of their Untamed Africa calendar, on the video cover for Predator: Polar
Bears from Time & Life Videos, and by other educational and promotional firms.
The Piermont Flywheel Gallery in Piermont,
NY and The Flat Iron Gallery in Peekskill, NY, are currently representing her work.
Her images have been part of numerous solo and group exhibits in the New
York/New Jersey/Connecticut area. Locally, Ana has participated in various
fine arts and crafts fairs. Nationally and internationally, her images
have earned medals and acceptances in photographic salons. “A Visit to
Etosha National Park, Namibia”, her article introducing that part of the world
to other travelers and photographers was published in the PSA Journal.
